Did anyone here ever have extractions done while braced? If so, how was it?

I want to be braced on "time" . Today, I went to the oral surgeon, and he told me "Oh, we still haven't gotten the insurance papers back yet so I cannot remove your wisdom teeth today", and the paper work is not going to be back until mid-October. He asked me if I wanted to pay out of pocket for it, and I said "No because I'm already paying for my braces out of pocket since my mom, etc is not helping so I do want some "benefit" where Aetna would be paying. Anyway, I was thinking of getting braced at October 6th(I have always wanted braces since I was a little girl at around 13 and need them now for a functional reason) and then getting the wisdom teeth out around mid-October when the insurance should be cleared.

Would an oral surgeon be able to remove the teeth while braced? Also, did you get ceramic or silver(metal) brackets?

I know this site says that you should get jaw surgeries before being braced but do people get jaw surgery while braced too? I have a crossbite, but my ortho is being conversative in that he wants to try non-surgical methods first before trying a SARPE surgery.

actually the majority of people have jaw surgery while having braces.the teeth need to be in the proper postion before the surhery.its also my understanding that the os used the braces to line up the jaw as well as to wire u shut.i have a severe overbite that needs correcting

I had 4 premolars removed 2 days ago while braced. No issues whatsoever. Except for my chipmunk cheeks! :D
