so i just got braces today. i'm really excited. i noticed that my OD put an acid on my enamel -- he says this demineralizes it so the brackets can stick. he says most of the glisten returns, but not all of it and that this was a small price to pay for straight teeth.

i'm really concerned about getting white spots and losing the "glisten" of my teeth!!! i'll be getting braces for 6 months.

what can i do to avoid this problem? any of you experienced this dillema?

hi

My orthodontic has asked me to put on this GC Tooth Mousse, its purpose is to avoid the white spots from occurring.

It has lactose in it, not for people for lactose-intolerance.

Any white spots/brown spots/decalcification is caused by PLAQUE. If you keep your teeth meticulously clean you will not get them.

We ethc teethall the time and they remineralize. Plaque is what causes decalcification.

Thanks so much Dr Rick. So it's normal for the teeth too look chalky white the next day after etching? When saliva wets the surfacethe chalkiness disappears. Please advise
