Elastics - What is this configuration for?

#1 Post by mp921 »

On the right I'm wearing an elastic on the back two molars (top) to the last molar (bottom). It's a triangle. This is for the open bite. But I'm unsure of what the left is for??

It makes a box, attaching to the 3's and 4's on both the top and bottom. Any ideas? I forgot to ask about this.

I've been wondering this as well. I have the box, except mine is is on my 4's and 6's. I was under the impression that my back teeth wouldn't really be needing elastics, so I'm just confused all around. :?

Is a box not to help correct an openbite? If so, not sure why I have one on the left because my slight open bite is on the right.

I stay confused when it comes to my orthodontic treatment.

I'm not sure at all. If it is, it's very weird because it's my front teeth that are open. I was told that my molars were all fitting together fine. Hmmm. Hopefully I remember to ask the next time I'm in there!

box elastics

Usually when your orthodontist has you wearing box elastics, it's to get your teeth on the top and bottom to touch more. If they are already touching, it's usually to keep them that way.
