Best of luck tomorrow. Your treatment will go just as fast although it won't feel like it at first.

Getting them on shouldn't hurt. Your teeth will probably be sore in a few hours. In a couple days you'll forget you have them. Good luck!

the worst part for me were the canker sores. you may feel as if they will never go away, but they will as your cheeks toughen up in a week or two(they never actually harden). Use lots of wax and rinse with Peroxil. And it will feel really weird when you try to chew. This, too, gets back to normal soon. Good luck! Remember, each day wearing brace is one day closer to getting them off and having a beautiful smile. I haven't regretted getting braces for one minute.

Good luck tomorrow, and don't freak out.

The "Oh my god!!! What have I done to myself!!!" passes very quickly.

For me, my cheeks were horribly ripped up, worse than anyone in my dental school has ever seen, and even then, I was completely fine in less than a week.

Now, I much prefer the metal braces on my bottom teeth over the invisalign on my top teeth.

Congrats and good luck on braces tomorrow! The lead-up to getting them on is the worst part - everything after is relatively easy. :)
you'll do just fine!

Just prepare yourself. It will feel really weird when you first feel the braces on your teeth. You'll think you will never get used to it and you'll find it weird to talk and open and close your mouth HOWEVER....
It all gets better really quickly and pretty soon you won't even notice you have them. I forget I even have braces most of the time now.
Hope it goes ok.

Hello everyone, thanks so very much for the moral support!! :)

I survived the day and am now officially a member of the "brace-face" club... and WOW. After getting all this hardware installed, including the joy of twin turbos and a resultant shiny new lisp (lithp!), trying to talk to clients and staff while lithping all over the place (a fact the whole office found VERY entertaining), attempting to eat dinner when not a tooth in my head meets (gee, pizza was a masochistic choice), an hour of trying to floss\brush etc.... I have two words to say..

HOLY THIT!

LOL. But really, doing pretty good on the whole. No pain so far other than some irritation where a bracket is rubbing the inside of my bottom lip (I imagine tomorrow might be a different story). Still a double-take when I pass a mirror ( :paperbag: ), and my lips feel like they belong to someone else ("where do we go?") so kind of an overwhelming day but I'm darn happy to have started the journey :):)

Thanks again everyone, and I'll be heading home tomorrow so will try to get my story started and pics up on the weekend.

One day down, 729 to go...

Oh god, I still remember how awkward talking was after getting the braces on! I thought my lips would never feel normal again and I'd have to deal with 18 mos of misery - but that phase ended after a week, I'd say. The lisp goes away in no time.

Welcome to the club!
