Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. Right now, I have ceramic braces on my lowers and I noticed that my gum line is not really leveled. My four front teeth had a lot of crowding and were crooked. So they are a little higher than my remaining teeth (canines to molars). If that makes any sense....

Did anyone else have this problem? If so, what did your ortho prescribe? I'm 9 months into my treatment.

I haven't broached the subject with my ortho, as I'm just new into my treatment, and my gums aren't drastically uneven. However, I figure if I'm spending all this time and money on my teeth, I want them perfect when they're done. That's why I plan to whiten them, and look into laser gum conturing to make my top gums even. From the reading I've done, it's quick, relatively painless and harmless. They can even out gumlines. I think a cosmetic dentist can do something like this.
Don't know if this is what you mean, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who notices gum levels!

As your teeth level out, the gum will generally follow along with the tooth, attached at the spot it currently is. That's generally what I've noticed with my teeth. That said, one of my teeth was very, very far out of line and I needed a gum graft to help restore some of the tissue, but the gum had receded quite a bit before I got braces, so it was no great surprise.
