Braces are on!

#1 Post by Janey »

Had 6 month braces fitted on saturday, uppers only. So far so good, teeth are very tender and wax really is my very best friend! Reaction from people is pretty positive, everyone has been very supportive especially the kids (i'm a teacher) which has helped. However there are a few people who seem to have difficulty looking at me when they're talking to me. I suppose they don't want to seem as though they are staring, but it is a little disconcerting. It almost makes me want to make faces at them or even bare my newly braced teeth at them to see if they'll notice! Anyone else been tempted into this slightly antisocial behaviour?!

i'm a teacher too with 6 month braces.

The kids have been really interested- i told every class so that they knew and i didnt have to worry, some of them have been lovely asking me how my braces are feeling.

To be honest if they are that interested I show them because then they dont stare at me trying to get a glimpse of the brace... it is weird when they just stare!!

I have notied movement in my teeth after 2 weeks - its slight - but exciting!

good luck with yours!

I think we should start a 6 month smile club for teachers! I'm another teacher with them! Staff tend to completely avoid the subject with me but sometimes kids ask about them which is fine. They have never made any mean comments, they are more curious than anything.
