For electric toothbrush users?
I recently bought a sonicare toothbrush and a waterpik and I LOVE them both! My question is, did your toothbrush and pik come with ortho attachments, did you buy them separately or did you use the regular ones that came included? My toothbrush came with 2 heads. 1 for regular brushing without braces and 1 for polishing. The brush heads that came with the toothbrush say don’t use on braces. The water pik also came with 2 attachments. 1 high and 1 low pressure tip. I don’t get my braces for 2 more weeks and wanted to know if it was necessary to buy additional attachments.
This probably isn't much help, but I got an Oral-B Triumph through my orthodontist. It came with a brush head for braces. I'm guessing it's because it came from the Ortho.
I don't have a water pik, but I'm going to look into them soon. I've only been braced less than a month.
I'm very glad I bought the electric toothbrush. I don't think I could get my teeth as clean with a conventional brush.

I received my electronic oral b vitality toothbrush courtesy of the my ortho in my braces welcome aboard kit. It did come with ortho attachments and I've bought more from my local drug store.

I use a Sonicare also, and although I have had it since long before I got braces. I remember the manual had special instructions for brushing with braces.
This seems to say it's good to use on braces:
http://www.sonicare.com/discover/specia ... braces.asp
I'm curious about the "The brush heads that came with the toothbrush say don’t use on braces." What does it say exactly?
My biggest concern is the vibrating head, sometimes it bumps into the brackets and I'm afraid I will knock one out, not sure if this has ever happened to anyone.
Is there a special Sonicare brush attachment for braces?
Also what I've been doing is brushing twice, once below the braces, and once above. Probably does wear out the brush a lot faster.

Hi tsmurfenator
Thanks for responding. I read your post from work and had to wait until I got home to check the manual. First let me start by saying, I have an Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 9900 not a Sonicare. (my mistake) I kinda thought they were all the same.
In the Smart Guide (pg. 8 for anyone who has one) under Brushheads it says “The Oral-B FlossAction brushhead is recommended for everyday deep cleaning. For occasional or everyday polishing, use the Oral-B Pro White brushhead. Please note: children under 12 should not use the Oral-B Pro White brushhead.
Do not use brushheads with braces. We recommend using Oral-B Ortho brushhead, which is specifically designed to clean around braces and wires.”

blindboarder2008 I hope to get some good stuff from my Ortho. But for some reason I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get an electric toothbrush like you did so thats why I went ahead and bought one And I cant seem to find the ortho attachments in the drug stores. I will try Target and Costcos if I get a chance to get to them. Ill probably order them online.
If you can't find the ortho brush heads, get the "Precision Clean" ones. I can't find the orthodontic specific ones for my Oral B Professional brush in the regular stores. I've been using the "Precision Clean" ones for several months with no problems. They do wear out faster with braces.
An orthodontic tip did come with my Water Pik and my daughter uses it. I just use the regular tip at a lower setting.

I have an Oral-B toothbrush and it did not come with the ortho heads, I couldn't find them anywhere! I finally got on Amazon.com and found a store that had them. They work much better at cleaning around the brackets than the regular heads.
I also have one of those rechargeable Water Pik's. It's great, fairly compact and I can take it with me if I go out of town. It came with an ortho attachment, one high and low pressure tip and a tongue cleaner.

I just got an electric toothbrush called Vital Health Power Oral Health Care system for Christmas. It's exactly what I needed/wanted. After using it for a week I can never go back to a regular toothbrush! Not really sure what a water pik does, but mine came with sulcus tips, replaceable brush heads, and a gum stimulator.
