You know how when you first get your braces on and you think that your teeth will magically look like all the people in the braces advertising photos and then you realise your teeth look like a train wreck + a whole heap of wire and elastic? Well, I finally feel like, when I look in the mirror, my teeth look more like those pictures now. It's really good! Only took a year lol!

Congrats on having your wires straighten out!

When I first got my braces on, I noticed how bad my teeth really were because the wire was all bent and wacky looking. In advertisements for braces and with most people on the street, you see someone smiling with perfectly straight teeth with braces seemingly placed on top. It was only here that I saw what braces look like at the beginning of treatment. I was thankful that was only a matter of months before my teeth looked straight because I did not like the wacky bends of my wires.

My mom says that now I'm one of those girls who people must look at and wonder, "Why does she have braces on? Her teeth are straight!" She's probably right because a lot of people have recently started telling me, "Your teeth are so straight!" and then asking me When are you getting your braces off?" ... I still have months to go!

I know what you mean. Sometimes I look in the mirror and i cant believe my teeth have straightened out so much.

When i first got braces I was so embarrassed. I dont know what I expected them to look like but they were all over the place and seem to accentuate how crooked my teeth were. After they were put on, I looked in the mirror at the ortho and thought' what the hell was i thinking'.

Then it seemed my teeth would never straighten out. but they did. Its very encouraging!

I know the feeling you all are talking about. My teeth have some fine tuning to go, but they are a world apart from what they looked like this time a year ago. I went to the dentist last week for my 6-month checkup and the dentist and his assistant both were amazed at how differently everything looks. Kudos to all....braces are da bomb, aren't they!?!

I got my braces today, they look like such a train wreck! I dont even want to go to school but I'll have to :(

I felt the same after getting mine...like a freak with a mouth full of crap. After 3 weeks I still feel like everyone notices them when I talk, but I’m getting used to them.

That is awesome, mine kind of do too except for a gap due to moving the midline. I never felt embarrassed because of my braces but it definitely feels better to smile now.

It took almost a year for mine to do that. Wow like above my teeth felt like a train wreck before and after braces until deep into treatment. Very happy for you!
