Jaw pain after adjustment

Hello.

I had a very uncomplicated adjustment on Monday - replacement of a power chain only, and he took the upper wire out to look at it, but didn't change it. Since then, I have had some fairly serious jaw pain, which is something I've never experienced after an adjustment before. I cannot open my mouth wide, and it hurts to move my jaw side-to-side and forward. From what I've read, these are classic symptoms of TMJ, but I've never had any problems with that before.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I wait it out and see if it gets better on its own? I'm just concerned because I've been in braces three years and have had many power chains replaced, but have never experienced any jaw problems prior to this. Thanks!

It's possible that it's stronger, but he didn't say anything specifically about it. Unfortunately, they're closed Thursday and Friday so I guess I just have to gut it out until Monday. Thanks for your reply.

I get symptoms like that every time I have an adjustment. I have invisalign on the top though, and I get a new retainer every adjustment as well.
I clench like crazy, and my jaw gets extremely sore.

I drink a lot of warm tea and take some aspirin.
