Check out my Secondary Molar Bands!!!

I arrived for my first adjustment appointment - last time slot of the day (a great time to come!). I told the receptionist I wanted to speak to the orthodontist prior to getting ushered back to "bullpen" area. They soon called me into the private office, and I explained to her I was very happy with my braces but wanted to put molar bands on my secondary molars

She asked me why I wanted this, and I said "to be complete". I wanted braces on every tooth. She agreed to do it, but said I would have to put spacers, and come back after 1 week. I told her I really wanted to do it today. She put me in the chair in her private office and started trying on bands. She was able to put bands in three of the four secondary molars, and the last one just a bracket. She told me by next appointment there should be enough space to put band on that one also.

I now have brackets/bands on every tooth (28 teeth) - 7 bands and 21 standalone brackets. Bands on #2, #3, #14, #15, #19, #30, and #31, and brackets on all of the rest. I can't explain how great this makes me feel. It makes me feel like I really have braces now since before I had bands/braces only up to my primary molars.

Also spent a good 120 minutes one-on-one with the orthodontist, and she did most of the work herself and was able to get millions of questions answered. .. Mostly past office closing time. Incredibly there was no charge for any of this. Totally VIP and executive level service.
I'm a little concerned she will start to think I'm too high maintenance. Anybody else ever feel this way?

Also put in new archwire although I think I went backwards? I had 15 before but she put 14??
Curious who else has secondary molar bands? My ortho said only a few of her patients do, usually only those with extractions.

And put new fuchsia/baby blue ligatures. Gray was getting too boring for me even though I loved how gray looked. I'm not sure how well I like my new colors, but I am at least happy to have courage to do something new!

Interesting. I'm curious about the extractions=second molars banded thing. I'm wondering if it's just her particular way of doing things or if that's standard treatment among all orthos.

I have all my molars banded and I had extractions.

I have them as well, but no extractions, but some of my upper gaps were probably about 1/2 a tooth wide, so sad, but my overjet is that big

After three days with the new bands (+ adjustment, new wire), I'm having the most intense possible pain in teeth #3/#4. Wow ... !!! Not sure if it's due to the new bands, or just the adjustment.

I will have gotten mine week ago tomorrow (wednesday) and I had quite a bit of pain as well--I have no clue which teeth hurt--all my molars were sore! But after 5days or so, I am a bit better, my bite has shifted again to where I am able to chew better.....so you need to give it at least a week or so....I did get a pokey wire on the upper right after 3 days--I am just putting wax on it until every thing else unravels--I don't have time to go into the office more than once to clip a wire.....good luck!

I don't understand, no offense, but why would you want to have extra molarbands?
