Hey, I have recently been back on my bad habbit of smoking, and I should kick it, I know.. but just incase I don't..
Has anyone smoked through their course with ceramic braces? did it seem to make staining on the ligs worse than just food/tea/coffee does?
I want to keep my ligs as clear as possible, but i'm also wanting to kill for a cigarette from time to time.
Thanks!

I you have't already gotten the brackets on i would just go with traditional metal. Ceramics just in my opinion look gross quite often. The metal ones are what most people are used to seeing the ceramics aren't fooling anyone anyway.sadface wrote:Hey, I have recently been back on my bad habbit of smoking, and I should kick it, I know.. but just incase I don't..

I have smoked more post y braces than before (ditto plus lots for drinking..)
I don't think it's had a major impact, I had my lowers on for 6 months longer than my uppers and there was no difference between the two when the uppers went on. I haven't really had ligs as I've had wire ties/metal ligatures most of my treatment. When I have had clear ligs or power chains, the major cause of staining has been the occasional curry, even tomato sauce not anything of consequence.

I'm a smoker with ceramics. I use Pearl ligs which seem to subside the staining some. I mean, they get gross but then they get changed soon anyways. haha.

I have ceramics and don't think they look gross. They are nice cause in pictures you actually can't really notice, and a lot of people assume i just have a retainer because of the ceramic.

smoker
Yep... I smoke I'll admit it. I have ceramics and haven't noticed any stains despite my coffee, dark soda, smoking habits. I just drink coffee through a straw with my lips covering my teeth... smoke the same way... well not with a straw haha. Don't know if this helps but in my mind it does. Pics on my blog if you wanna check it out. no stains
