Confused

Today my orthodontist left a message on my machine sayibg that my first opointment would be to put in an apliance to get my teeth ready for braces. I have never heard of an "Apliance" before (other than a houshold appliance) is it like a retainer type of thing????

Maybe an expander to widen your upper palate. It's a pretty bogus device when you first get it but you do get used to it and it sure seems like there is worse devices out there.
