Stain problems

Hi again

I'm having some staining problems on my top teeth, basically on the front teeth there is some excess glue from where the bracket has been stuck on and that is staining, most likely from tea and cigarettes.

I've questioned my orthodontist about it, and he says he doesn't want to try and scrape it off incase it pulls the whole bracket off.

I don't want to be awkward, but at the same time i've paid over £3,000 and don't want to spend a year or so with this glue staining.

Is there anything I can do myself? should i use whitening toothpaste? and can my regular dentist still polish my teeth with braces on?

Thanks

You can try Arm & Hammer baking soda and peroxide toothpaste, but I'm not sure how effective it will be. With smoking and drinking tea you will continue to have this as an ongoing issue. I'd plead your case again to the ortho. I don't have any excess glue on my brackets so maybe your original bonding wasn't done as well as it could have been. As for polishing, yes my dental assistant still polishes my teeth although I'm not sure how well the tool can be maneuvered next to the brackets.

Yes I have this issue from coffee staining my excess glue. Not much that can be done. Eventually some bits of glue fell off, but not all of it. Even cleaning at the dentist did not remove the stains.
