I felt the same way before my extractions! I recommend taking Tylenol or Advil before your adjustment. Just remember why you are doing this and that you will love your teeth when you are done!

Been there. Felt like that. The anticipation is actually worse then the process itself. Most people find that extractions are a piece of cake. After you get though the first few weeks with your braces, you will look back and wonder why you had so much apprehension in the first place.

Yeah I think I will go with some form of painkiller before hand.

I am having an unorthodox extraction? Apprently, my root is curved into the jaw bone and he is having to cut the crown before removing the root - saying he could do the orthodox way and complication could occur and he would have to cut the crown anyway. He's just going to cut the crown to avoid panic during the procedure.

Anyone heard of this or had this before?

Actually, regarding taking pain killers before the extraction... check with your oral surgeon. Some medications can inhibit clotting, which may lead to dry socket.

Also, regarding the curved root, that sucks. :/

I guess preemptively removing the crown leads for more control, compared to having the root unpredictably fracture or something.

All done - don't know what I was worried about! All in all and 'pleasant' experience. :)
