as some of you no i was looking into getting braces. ceramic ones...

ive now seen 4 ortho's and ive made my choice...

all 4 orthos i saw said they cudnt even tell i had a bad bite looking at me from the front or the side, as my teeth dont stick out and my bottom jaw doesnt sit back into my neck so my profile ect is not affected by it...

i told every ortho i saw i didnt want surgery and all of them said because it dusnt affect the way i look and i dont suffer from jaw pains or grinded down teeth then surgery isnt really a necessity. only if i want to reduce my bite completely but as stated above you cant even tell ive got a bad bite..

anyway my ortho will give me fixed braces top and bottom ceramic brackets metal wires... she said my bottom will be pulled foward due to them slanting back and my upper teeth she will close gaps and widen the smile slightly..

total treatment cost is £3600, if i pay in full i get 10% off so it will be £3250...... payment plans offered were £240 a month which i cant afford so im currently going threw a loan process to borrow the £3250 low interest payments over 2 years so will pay back approx £3500 or less. im very pleased... fingers crossed i get accepted for the loan

my sentance will be 15 - 18 months

Woah, that seems expensive.... I got Ceramic top and bottom for a straight £2,000. It's the best Ortho in the area too, all the top lawyers go there lol.

Wow, what area's that, camdog? Surely not London?!? If it is I'm incredibly jealous and wish I'd been a bit more thorough in my research!

I noticed that us, here in United States, rarely say how much we pay for the braces. Mostly is the people in England and Australia who are more open to talk about the costs.
I am in Phoenix, Arizona, my braces cost 6,440$, self ligating ceramic on top and self ligating metal on bottom, and my estimated time in braces is 2 years +/- 6 months.
So, I have 4 questions for anybody who wants to answer:
1. Where are you located? (city, state)
2. How much are you paying for your braces?
3. What kind of braces you have? (ceramic, metal)
4. What is your estimated time in braces?

Whilst 2k is a great deal and I too am jealous! I think the £3250 is reasonable, I paid £5,400 for upper linguals and lower ceramics 2 yrs ago so that's way more! It does depend a bit on what needs doing, and also the brand of brackets, location of ortho, what is included eg retainers, cleaning length of care post braces etc so you can't always compare easily on face value. It's a great investment, if you can make the finances work and you feel comfortable with the ortho, that's great, even if it's not the cheapest deal on the forum. I felt guilty about the cost of my treatment and my husband pointed out that people spend much more on cars and holidays etc, and they don't last whereas a good smile will do. Congratulations on deciding to go for it, I am sure you will enjoy the results and it will be money well spent.

To answer some questions...

I paid £2,000

It was for Ceramic top and bottom with all retainer, after care and everything else included.

They offered me an INTREST FREE payment plan of one year to pay this off.

It is an orthodontic surgery in North East England

Their website is www.queensway.co.uk for anybody interested.

My orthodontist has won numerous awards and lectures around the country so he is certainly not a backstreet job.

Nah, the feelings more of an uncomfortable one than pain. It just feels strange but then you get used to it within an hour or so and after a week you forget they're on!
