Anyone Else Start To Become A Little Lax With Thier Routine?

When I first got braces, I brushed morning, mouthwashed and used the mini brush between my braces and brushed before bed.
I still brush morning and evening now but the inbetween bit is losing steam
I work outdoors and have started just rinsing my mouth with water after eating and brushing when I get home now...
Also, I was carefull with lots of foods to begin with but now eat basically anything, forgetting I even have braces on half the time!
Anyone else like this after so long being braced....?

For the first 3-4 months, cleaning my teeth thoroughly after every meal was like an obsession. I am definitely more relaxed about it now. Just like you, I rinse my mouth with water and I brush only when I get home. And I do the whole routine (little brush, flossing, little toothpicks, brushing, rinsing) only before I go to sleep.

To be fair I never really had any heavy routine to begin with.
I do the typical brushing morning and evening. And after eating I will rinse out with water (and use picks to get the food that gets stuck from between my teeth) but aside from that not much else. My teeth don't look dirty etc so I'm happy.

I brush in the morning, and brush and floss before i got to bed. Always get rave reviews about how clean things are when i go to the ortho
To me, if you do a good proper job brushing, then morning and night is all thats needed.

Yep. I was going to start this topic.
For the first 50 days or so, I was flossing every day. More than I ever had in my life before or since. Plus water pick and everything else. Was using up a whole pack of Colgate Wisps every day. I was spending like 30 minutes every day which was becoming a hassle.
Hate to say it, but now (at around 100 days) I'm barely brushing every day any more. Really letting myself go. Part of the reason is because I have a detached bracket (which has been sort of a downer), but I'm promising myself I'll get into a better routine as soon as I get it fixed (and the lecture from my dentist

). I'm thinking it's probably typical for folks to fall off the routine until right at their appointment.

LOL...I guess it becomes tiring after awhile, I don't floss as much as used to.
I kind of self conscience, so I still use my mini brush for food between braces, brush often, and use my ACT mouthwash.

You don't brush daily?
You really need to brush every day at least when you wake up AND right before bed, especially with braces. Not much point in spending all that money to straighten your teeth only to have them come out full of decalcification like this:

Ugh .... I'm not proud of my behavior, just being honest.

Thank you for scaring me straight, I'm going to go turn off my computer and go work on my flossing & brushing. My appointment is in a couple of days and I need to clean up, really do not want to disappoint my dentist because I did so well the first few times.

Ick!! That picture is super gross and scarey! I just bought four new toothbrushes at Target this evening. I would be devasted if that was my end result. All that time and money gone down the drain. Can you even have decalcification fixed?? P

I still brush at least 4 times a day, and floss every night. I've heard that clean teeth move faster, and I want these babies off ASAP!!

I seldom brush when I wake up in the morning ( thinking I already brush my teeth before I go to teeth and am not eating when I'm asleep, unless I sleep walk).
But I definitely brush my teeth after every meal, just because it's unpleasant when pieces of food stuck here and there, and plus I'm being vain, just in case I spot a cute guy and gave him my biggest smile only to find out there are food trapped in my braces, not attractive at all
It feel good that I went to adjustment and my orthon compliment my oral hygiene is getting better, though I don't think I do anything more than the past months, but it feel good, kinda like scoring candies from your teacher when you are in primary

I definitely have to admit that I do not take as much case as I did the first few months. I dont floss daily anymore, but I do waterpik and brush morning and before bed. Everytime I see the dentist they comment how clean my teeth are especially with this ginourmous appliance I have, so I am not worried at all. I cant imagine going a day without brushing though thats just gross and you must be crazy!
