Heyy
I have had my brace on 10days now and I still can't chew.
My teeth are miles apart, I know they have to be a little bit so you don't chew your bracket off but is this normal?
I have not been eating as little and often as I should and feel weak and dizzy every now and again.
I have rang the hospital and they have got me an appointment for Tuesday morning, they are going to file some of the lump of glue off.
Anyone else had this problem??
Thanks x

Yep. My top teeth are bumping my bottom brackets, so to keep it from happening i haven't been chewing down all the way. This has caused me to not chew my food all the way, which causes its own issues. You just have to go for soft stuff, or stuff that doesn't have to be chewed too much. Rice, noodles, potato, breads, and protein shakes should help a lot.
Luckily my ortho didn't do the molar build ups like you have, and my teeth have moved enough that chewing is easier....the filing should help you out a little more, but its not going to get a whole lot better till your bite is fixed enough to remove the build ups.

I cant chew properly either, my bite changes daily so some days its ok to chew and some days I just cant. It will get better in time....

Yep you are normal. I had the same issue and kind of learned how to move my jaw a little different to chew, especially in the beginning as it hurt to hit that molar stop. Even then, I find myself swallowing whole noodles if I eat pasta.

In regards to your teeth hurting - mine hurt me for about 14 days (2 weeks) before I was able to consume anything of mild hardness. I'm a vegetarian as well so finding food to suit a soft pallet and tender teeth is difficult. So I recommend the following.
Breakfast:
Porridge or Oatmeal (made with excess milk).
Yoghurt
Mashed Up Banana.
Omelette.
Snack:
Mashed Strawberries, Blackberries and Lychee (I ate allot of lychee on their own as they are slippery and go down easily).
Broccoli, Carrot and Beetroot Juice.
Lunch:
Gazpacho
Egg Mayonnaise and Water Cress.
Soup (any variety).
Mashed Potato Or Butter-nut Squash Mash.
Smoothie (any variety).
Snack:
Soggy Cereal (yes, hot milk and cereal).
Boiled Egg
Vegetable Mash (Just take your favourite vegetables and mash them).
Dinner:
Mashed Potato.
Quorn Mince.
Baked Beans.
Spaghetti (Alphabet Soup).
Risotto.
Vegetable Stew (make sure to cook it for at least 8 hours to make the vegetables soft enough to mash up with the tongue against the roof of the mouth).
Couscous.
A Soft Favourable Pasta.
Desert:
Ice cream, Ice Cream, Ice Cream... and Ice Cream.
Sorbet.
Custard.
Chocolate Pudding.
(for the non vegetarians out there):
Cod
Haddock
Tuna Mayonnaise.
Beef Stew.
