unwiden arch?

#1 Post by kelly7 »

If your orthodontist accidentally over widen your arch can he unwiden it? Is that harmful to your teeth?

Do you mean with an expander? If you do, than, YES my ortho over expanded a little bit until my molars started tipping, but he said that they always over expand a little bit because the teeth will retract a little bit on their own.

So did he just left it to naturally retract or did he use wire to aid in it. Since the palate is expanded even when the teeth has retracted where you left with gaps between the molar teeth since there are the extra space created from the palate expansion?

My expansion was nonsurgical. I got braced immediately after my ortho removed my expander. There were no gaps between my molars at any time during the expansion or after.
