just got braces today, i'm so excited! can't wait to join you guys on this journey. I may be in the minority, but i love my braces! so far they don't hurt. I got upper braces today, and will get lowers in a few months. I'm 28 and look young anyway, but now i look like a teen. can't wait to meet you all! say hi, and let me know how your first day went. will the braces start hurting soon? they can't be worse than spacers right?

Congrats on starting your journey. As for pain, I can't speak for spacers, but my discomfort started about 12 hours after I got braced. It went away after about 2 days. It wasn't too bad, though; nothing that motrin couldn't fix. Good luck!!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting braced!

My first day was fine, pain-wise. My teeth never really hurt except after adjustments, when eating hurts a little.

Good luck with your journey!

Welcome,

Mine never really hurt, a little weird pressure in my whole face I guess...I seemed more tired that usual the first 3 days. I kept waiting to be sore like they told me I would me and I never really was!!! I used that wax like crazy tho!! Now a week in I use no wax, feel a little pressure (which I like because it means things are a-movin')

Congrats on getting braces! I can relate to looking young in the first place, then getting braces and looking even younger. I'm 21 but look like I'm about 16. Add the braces and well, I don't look younger than 16 but I FOR CERTAIN look 16 years old.

My first day in braces was emotional. I hated the way I looked and spent a good amount of time sulking. Then my teeth started shifting quickly and I was like "This is the best thing ever!" Initially, I do remember needing to take some Advil but the pain wasn't bad at all. Maybe a handful of times I woke up in the middle of the night to take more but that's it. My jaws felt tired at times but that feeling went away and didn't come back. Getting braces wasn't as painful as I expected! I was nervous about it because I don't consider myself someone who can handle pain well, but there was nothing to worry about. Best thing I ever did!

Just wait til your teeth start moving! :)
