To recap the debracing experience.... I arrived at the office at 2pm. They sent me straight back. The orthodontist took a look a tried to scare me to death by saying 'hmmmm I dont think they can come off today.' I was like "what!? Why? Whats wrong!?" then he laughed. evil I tell ya!
He sent me back with the assistant. Sat back in the chair, put on my very fashionable clear goggles and paper bib and on she went. Using this little plier looking tool she quickly 'snapped' each bracket and molar band and out came the entire thing. wire, brackets, bands, everything! It was very interesting. Repeated the process with the tops. then the not so fun part of using the hand drill to get all the glue and gunk off the teeth. It was just uncomfortable in the top front 4 teeth really. but still, wasnt my favorite part overall. then i was able to go and brush and floss for the first time in a year without ANYTHING in my mouth! Wonderful feeling. And when I looked in the mirror.. wow! I didnt want to stop smiling. But back to the chair... took a bunch of pictures. Then took impressions for my essix retainers. Yuck! Not much fun! But at least it didnt take too long.
Then back to the sink to brush again. Ahhhh that was my favorite part!
And that was pretty much it. Made an appt to come back the next day to pick up retainers. Got a certificate for a free 8x10 portrait and on my way i went.
It was great! The staff was wonderful. I was really nervous about the debracing process, but really, it was not painful ( maybe a bit uncomfortable at times, but not painful) and i was out of there within an hour and a half.
Sooooooo worth it tho! I am very happy with my new smile!

Thank you guys! I am very very thrilled about my new smile. Seems like im constantly smiling now! :D
I was in braces exactly 12 months. Really it was 6 days short of a year!
I am in an essix retainer now. 24/7 for first 4 months then only at night after that.
I can stress enough for glad I am that I went ahead with the braces when I did, because it was sooo worth every second and every cent.

It's beautiful. I wish I can fast forward 2 1/2 years of my life. It's only 1 & 1/2 month since I got braced.
