What is the best alcohol to drink with braces / IBraces?
Hi
Does anyone know what kind of alcoholic drink is the most recommended? I know you should drink a lot of water also, but I am wondering whether beer and stuff like tonic are out cos they're carbonated? How about wine or stuff like vodka and cranberry? Would really love to know the answer!

Oh gad, I hope beer is ok, or I have ruined my teeth in the first week!!!
I drank beer because it had more calories, and I was hungry, and I consider a nice hefty micro brew and meal in itself, plus I was just freaked out about having braces!!! I have given up red wine...embracing white wine. I also periodically swish out my mouth with water....swig of beer, swig of water...etc...will keep you hydrated, and probably keep you from drinking too much...
Cheers!

I think I drank almost everything with braces, I didn't stain much because I was very boring and only used silver ligs. I have been drinking (not generally alcohol lol) with retainers too, but I've been seeing people mention you can't use cleaners with any solder points, and my new retainer does have those (c-clasps). I guess my ortho can yell at me if it appears I'm ruining the solder points with diet coke.

yup, I feel free to drink whatever I like, of course I don't have ligs that will stain and I'm careful to rinse after drinking and well before brushing to rebalance the PH and not damage my enamel. If it's a drink in the evening I'll wait until I'm ready for bed before I have a rinse with Closys and then go through my cleaning routine. No enamel damage= win!

Haha. my response was also going to be "any that you can get your hands on!!" though i don't think vom/puking with braces would be fun.
I think red wine can be a bit staining so have it close to a a lig change.
only other advice, a lot of white wine is very acidic and can open up the enamel to breakdowns, most of the professional advice i've gotten about this is: you don't have to avoid white wine, just wait at least an hour after drinking it before you brush.
