Brackets taken off then replaced in different spots

I went to my ortho today and she took off a few brackets (about 6) and then glued on new ones in slightly different spots to continue the straightening process. Only one of them really hurt when she shapped it off but mostly it was just uncomfortable. I got my first lick of a bare teeth in 9 months and I liked it :)
But my question is, has anyone else had some brackets taken off then put back on in different spots? Is this a common thing?

Gosh I hope this will happen for me - I have some upper brackets that are so close to my gum line that Im sure I'll wake up one morning and my gum will have grown over it!

I think I had that happen with a few brackets - mostly because I had such crowded and rotated teeth at the beginning. My ortho did the best he could with the initial placement, but at the leveling stage some of them on the worst offenders at the beginning probably just weren't quite... level lol.

It is not uncommon to reposition brackets during treatment for a variety of reasons.

I had my brackets repositioned during my last adjustment. Before he repositioned them they took a panoramic x-ray to see my root placements from the adjustment before that. They had to check to make sure my roots are not touching or something. I'm sure repositioning them will help the leveling process. I did have to get one of my molar bands repositioned too.

I'm not sure if it's a common practice but I'm glad I got mine repositioned! Orthodontics is such a complicated process it seems.

This is our preferred way of getting teeth into the correct position as we detail the alignment. For various reasons, brackets may not be in the ideal position from the onset, due to initial tooth position, overlapping gums, etc.

Another way to improve alignment is to bend wire, but this can be less accurate and more time consuming, particularly if a bracket comes off or if there is a broken wire.

Yep! I was so excited for my Repositioning app because it was kinda like the second phase of my treatment!
