Weight Loss
Do you seriously lose a lot of weight in those first two weeks after getting your braces on? I train as a powerlifter and I am a bit worried about all the weight Ive gained over the last month or two going to waste. Were you able to eat chicken, and oats a couple days after?

I've lost about 5 pounds since Tuesday, but that's when I had my extractions and I think that makes it harder to eat than the braces. There is a lot of pain, but if you're tough you just get through it. I used to eat and snack all the time and the fact that I don't now I think has less to do with the pain than the amount of time it takes to cut things up in little pieces and eat slowly! I just don't have the patience for that-lol!

Weight-loss is going to happen. I do a lot of weight lifting and I used to eat a lot on a very strict diet... up until last thursday. I'm only in the first week and eating is still a challenge for me.
Chicken still isn't happening yet but I am doing a lot of:
Eggs
Oatmeal
Fat free cottage cheese and yogurt
low sodium meatloaf
Pasta
Chilli
I'm going to try cooking up some talapia tonite, see how that goes.
...for now I'm basically sticking to things I can mash up with my tongue and swallow without really chewing too much - its not just the soreness, but I'm also getting used to chewing with the turbos they put on a couple of my bottom mollars so that the top and bottom brackets don't touch on my mollars.
To balance out my food intake going down I've been drinking weight gain shakes a few times a day as well, either cytogainer or something I put together myself when I have the time.
Can't wait for things to get better, but for now I'm getting by just fine.

Yeah cytogainer works might have to pick that up. I usually make my own shake with milk + oats and protein powder.afpilot313 wrote:Weight-loss is going to happen. Has it been hard to eat oatmeal? I usually just add the oatmeal raw into my shake. I feel like it would get stuck in the braces.
