Help - mouth ulcers!!!

Hi,

This is my first post although I have been lurking for a while. I have found this sight so useful and now have an issue I hope you can help me with. I have had my braces on for a month now (ceramic top and bottom). Have managed to survive the pain until now. A few nights ago, my 4 year old joined us in bed at some point and while he was asleep, he moved his arm and in the process punched me in the mouth. OMG!!! The pain!!! I think I woke half the building (although, not my son!) Within a day I had 8 mouth ulcers and swollen lips on the left side of my face. I have been using Absenol on the ulcers but this only lasts about 10 minutes and dries my mouth out terribly. This then makes my lips (and ulcers) stick together which hurts like crazy when I open my mouth. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do until the ulcers disappear? I am currently visiting Canada but am due to fly back to China (where I work) next week. It is difficult to access over the counter treatments there so am keen to stock up before heading back.

Thanks,
k8

Warm salt water rinses at least three times a day. They really help. Also, for your mouth being dry, drink lots of water.
Hope your mouth feels better.

Warm salt water, wax, and time to heal.

Use benzodent for the pain. It is in the denture section of the store. Also try the Orajel Antiseptic mouth sore rinse. They helped me.

Im 47 and have been in braces since 4/10, and what i do as soon as i think i've got a mouth sore coming on, is drink all the water for my daily intake. That will reduce some of the acid mouth, works for me.
