What happens in orthodontia when this occurs? Does the whole process stop?

Does anyone have any information on this?
Thanks.

I can only speak about what my ortho told me, but he said if he found significant root resorption he would stop treatment, take off the braces and put me in a retainer. I assumed that would be the end of my treatment. He also told me, though, that this was very unlikely in my case but that he had to mention it so I knew all the risks.

I was just curious what happens if this is observed in the middle of treatment. I just looked at some x-rays (just emailed them to my orthodontist--they were taken by my surgeon for my jaw surgery months ago and weren't sent to my orthodontist) I'm pretty sure I see some when I compare them to my other x-rays prior to treatment. A few teeth on the bottom look a little shorter with more of a defined edge. But I'm not an expert in looking at x-rays.
I'm sure my orthodontist will let me know but my next appointment isn't for a couple more weeks and now I'm concerned.

I think a little root resorption is ok - and maybe even normal(?). I think the key is significant root resorption. If you're really worried why not give your ortho a call? No need to wait on pins and needles for weeks.

Thanks Balniusc, that's the information I was curious about.
