I have read so many things on here about people saying that it doesnt hurt a bit!
Now I dont know what kind of orthos you guys are going to but did it hurt? yes - it wasnt very pleasant.. maybe my seeth are sensititve? or maybe the glue was just holding those brackets and bands really strong which is why my ortho was tugging away.. ANYWHO
BRACE FACE NO MORE
Spacers: 8 - 4 top, 4 bottom on 04.04.09
Braced on: 04.09.09
Sentence: 18-24 Months
Did they not give you a gauze roll to bite on while they pulled the brackets off? Mine put that in my mouth and kept moving it so I was biting it with the tooth she was pulling the bracket off.
They did - maybe I'm just easy to say something hurt - I mean dont get me wrong it wasnt anywhere near as bad as being at the dentist and getting a shot of novacane it was just uncomfortable I guess
I figured they can just slide right off or something

Congrats! My bracket removal itself did not hurt at all. The cleaning of the glue was uncomfortable akin to a dental cleaning when you have sensitive teeth.
Braced for 2 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 5 days (the 2nd time ‘round)
Hawley on top, Essix on bottom
I got mine off today as well and the removal of the brackets was uncomfortable on a couple of them as well. Band removal was ick and the removal of the leftover glue was the worst bit...really cold water while grinding...bleh!

9/15/11: implant crown placed, lower lingual bonding corrected
9/21/11: upper bonding on lateral gaps from upper arch forward advancement
10/17/11: new hawley retainers w/plastic tubing over the 'social six' wire, both T/B
my orthodontist had a helper. I sat there like a flower. The helper pulled one on the front tooth off no problem... then next one she was yanking and yanking on for like a minute. I felt my tooth in incredible pain. The same tooth happened to shift forward slanting once I lost my retainer.. about a half inch. I was too traumatized over an experience to find my retainer or ask for help. I looked horrible. It it hurt then they weren't doing something right so wear your retainer. It even hurt years after just to eat. Like a punch to my tooth slowly.
