Traditional bracket on top, self ligating on bottom. Why?

#1 Post by balniusc »

Hi all.

I had my top arched braced 5 months ago with 3M clarity metal reinforced ceramics (requires the use of ligs). A few days ago I had my bottom arch braced but this time the ortho used 3M self ligating ceramic brackets. Does anyone know why this would be done? Are there benefits to using self ligating over the traditional bracket?
