YOUR best and worst...

#1 Post by Snowglobe32 »

I know after our braces are off, we will all have a great smile. :D

With that exception, at this point in your treatment, what has been your best and worst thing about having braces?

Best = 25 lb weight loss
Worst = elastics

Time= 53 weeks

I've only had braces a month, but so far the worst thing is the braces themselves! :-) The points, the prongs, the wires -- they're just plain uncomfortable. Sometimes I wonder if I can go through with this, with so much time ahead. I want the end result badly enough to continue, but I do wish it didn't take so long.

Oops -- forgot to mention the best part. So far, I haven't found a best part but I do like the fact that I'm maintaining my weight without effort. Eating is such a *chore*! Never thought I'd say that! :-)

I've only had braces for just over two weeks, but so far, I've found the worst thing to be the hook which is on the lingual side of my molar band, and it is sharp enough that if I run my finger across it hard enough it breaks the skin. I wouldn't have to wear wax at all if it weren't for that stupid hook, but since it's there I wear wax 24/7 aside from eating and brushing.

The best thing is just not being afraid to smile now. I have more confidence with them on because I know things are going to get better. I think I have increased self esteem.

WORST: when you break the skin in your mouth and a wire or bracket continually rubs it - not only does it hurt but it really annoys the sht out of me!

BEST: getting straight teeth, der :D

Worst = The first nights after having the braces put on or an adjustment when I clench or grind. The pain is awful.

Best = How fast my body processes the braces.

I've only had my braces on 6 weeks... but i'll answer anyway :)

Best: Straighter teeth

Worst: When my ceramic braces turn bright yellow from having mustard or any other artificial colouring. I also don't like any pokey wires.

Worst: Losing any sort of ability to play the Cornet and still struggling to have any sort of consistency and top range 6 months later. Depressing.

Best: STRAIGHT TEETH and eventually, a 'normal' overbite.

BEST - I like the look of metal braces in my mouth.

WORST - When the hooks and brackets poke and scrape the inside of my lips and cheeks, making them raw, cut up, and painful.

Best - My teeth are finally looking better! Plus I get to choose colored powerchains and I absolutely love it now!

Worst- Wearing elastics at the end of my pregnancy. They gave me the worst headache and earache ever and I set my treatment time back by about 6 months by not wearing them. Luckily I'm back on track again!

Worst - sores that show up when you least expect them.
Best - the big, bright, happy smile I have in every picture.
