Well I can't believe it has come around so quick but I am off to the orthadontists in an hour to get my first tightening. Up to now I haven't experienced much pain or discomfort (perhaps I have been extremely lucky) and am dreading that she will do something today to change that. I am expecting a couple of days of discomfort but what has everyone else experienced????

Well it all went fine, came back with powerchains and another appointment for 4 weeks for my next tightening!

I'm glad your adjustment went well Larah!
What colour powerchaings did you get?

They are just white ones...i didn't get a choice

but at least they are hardly noticeable!!

Are they white, or clear? Just being nosey... Be careful with staining foods. Whenever I end up getting a full powerchain across the whole arch, I'm going for a color. Bad enough to have individual ligs staining yellow, but to have an entire chain - including the links in between - staining yellow is just too nasty for my taste.

Hi, Larah,
Looks like we are on the same schedule! I had my first adjustment yesterday - got a stainless steel archwire on the bottom and a stronger NiTi on the top. I also got a powerchain on two teeth to turn an inward-facing tooth. So far I just have pain and a lot of pressure on the powerchained teeth and one next to them - but it's not too bad. Nothing Advil doesn't take care of.
I have my next adjustment in 4 weeks, too - I can't wait!
How long do they estimate you'll be in braces?

Hey Catgyrl, thanks for the advice...I hadn't thought about foods staining them!!! Good job I didn't have that curry for my tea eh !!
Hey Silvergirl we do seem to be on the same schedule at the moment! Its been estimated that my total treatment time will take 2 1/2 years which includes an operation and time in braces afterwards to make sure my bite is correct. After the encouragement today that everything was moving brilliantly I am hoping I could shave some time off and get it down to 2 years!! I'm not in too much pain as yet, in fact I think I have been pretty lucky as I have had very little pain and have been eating pretty much everything...I'm sure it will come and bite me on the ass some day lol!!
Whereabouts are you from?

That's great you haven't had much pain - I'd say mine hasn't been too bad, either. And I've figured out how to eat pretty much everything I did before - just a lot more slowly and carefully!
I'm in the U.S., in the Midwest. How about you?
