Hi,

Ooo, what exactly are your teeth problems? Sorry if it seems nosey but I also may have some teeth filed and I'm curious about how this will unfold, esp with the mild crowding. Do they file a crowded tooth or towards the back teeth? Can you see any difference?

I'm sure your ortho knows exactly what she/he is doing. Better to start slower than to rush in I guess. Good luck with being pain free all the way through!

Hi poppy123,

Don't get discouraged. Trust me, you will feel pain at some point. Some adjustments did not hurt me at all, while others were horrible and my teeth were sore for days.

Just because you don't feel pain does not mean your braces are not working.

Best of luck to you!

At my 5th adjustment i got brackets on my 2nd molars (the very last tooth.) and that was a very painful adjustment. But at the next appointment they put a spring back between two teeth, and that was not painful at all. Even though the first time the spring was put in i was in horrible pain. So i think it's always different, no matter who you are. Some ajustments might really hurt and some might not at all.

thanks for your replies all.

serious thinker - i had to have 2mm of room made as the two teeth either side of my front teeth stuck out. he filed my two front teeth when he first put the brace on, then a little more after my second ajustment but the rest of my teeth are quite small so im guessing he decided to make more room by filing my back teeth and then closing the gaps with power chains, thus making more room at the front. figured that out all by myself ha ha...and used the word 'thus' which ive never used before lol!

keep meaning to put my pics on, just not sure how.

Careful what you wish for! LOL I said the exact same thing until my last appointment. I bragged to my ortho and staff that I never had any pain following adjustments. Well all that changed with an upper arch wire change and "chain" to close an IPR space on the bottom arch.

The first few days I was in agony and even today six days later I'm still a little sore.

I was really concerned up until now that no pain no gain.
