I am new but I have been lurking around the forum for quite some time now. I have had my braces on for 14 months out of a 28-32 month sentence. I have had three teeth extracted while in braces also.

Anyway, the other day I was poking around my teeth and noticed a spacer in my upper molars. Funny, I thought, I wonder when they put that in? They didn't mention putting any in or banding any other teeth... where did it come from?

Last night while eating I noticed a sharp pain coming from between my molars and with an impressive contraption of mirrors I saw that the spacer had gone SUPER deep into my gum. Lucky for me, I had an appointment the next day.

Turns out, it has been there for 14 MONTHS ! And no one had even seen it.. makes me wonder that maybe they should spend more time looking in my mouth ! Eeek !

It is amazing that they didn't notice it and forgot they put it in there to begin with. But even more amazing that you didn't notice it. How could you have not felt it there while flossing the gumline?
