Toothpaste!!

#1 Post by vak103 »

I've been experiencing with different kinds of toothpaste. Last on my list is Sensodyne Iso-Active. This toothpaste foams in your mouth and advertised to remove plaque from between your teeth with the foam action. My Dilemma: After 30 minutes after rinsing with Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Rinse (and when I wake up in the morning), there is this film of white slimy string in my mouth. I've pulled it from my teeth, tongue and gums. Since this product cost me $6, I'm detemined to finish all of it. Just wondering has anyone had this happen to them.

Ick! I get that off and on all the time, isn't it gross?
The Crest Vivid white toothpaste does it, and sometimes my Crest w/scope does it. I didn't have those issues with the Crest mouthwash though. I'm not sure what causes the "shedding" but I just wanted you to know you're not the only one.

Thanks For Replying,

Glad I'm not the only one.....I'm going to send a comment to Sensodyne and see what their solution might be. Also, I'll try rinsing with water before the mouthwash....Just to see if it makes a difference!

I had this occur, I had to ask my dentist and hygienist about it. It's not braces related. I don't have braces yet.

They stated that it has to do with the chemical that's in certain toothpastes and the reaction of your cells in your mouth. If that's happening, try different toothpaste.

It happened to me when I used Crest and Colgate.
I've been using Sensodyne ProNamel for the past 2 years and I had no problems.

I tried Aquafresh Iso-Active after lunch and rinse well with water. No Problem!!

Last night I used Sensodyne Iso-Active (before bed) rinse well with water, and brush again with Crest Whitening then used mouthwash. No problem. Hmmm....sounds quite excessive!

I have also been using this toothpaste since about one week prior to being braced and haven't had any issues.

I bought Sensodyne for $6 and really regret it. there is really nothing special about it. There is no difference in how it "whitens" my teeth. I was using Toms of Main before and it worked just same well. As for the "super foam" effect - the same very thing is created by Sonic care toothbrush that I am using. So, this Sensodyne was a total waste of money for me and a huge compromise since I try not to use the products that have been previously tested on rabbit's eyes.

I also used Sensondyne ProNamel in the beginning. It didn't do anything my regular Colgate Total didn't already do. The price was a lot higher so I stopped buying it.

Listerine mouthwash also leaves a white filmy residue.

I use Colgate Total toothpaste and ACT Total Care mouthwash and love both products.

It's the Crest Mouthwash, I just bought the same mouthwash/whitener and I get that stringy slime on my gum line... I've had this similar thing happen with Crest White Strips...
