Hi guys,
I cannot believe that my time has come around so fast. That wasn't much of a wait!
Now, what shall I indulge in this eve (I'm in the uk so it's currently 15.40 here)? Any last min tips?
Bye for now,
ST x

Eat a nice juicy steak! And for dessert, have a candied apple. It has two forbidden foods on it haha.

A nice bit of steak... mmmm what I'd give to have one for my dinner tonight
I totally forgot about having my 'last meal' before brace day, but soon regretted it
and If I was to do this again, I'd say eat everything that's CHEWY! I just couldn't eat anything chewy by the 2nd day, my teeth were literelly painful/aching. It's funny, because a lot of people complain of discomfort with brackets rubbing, I haven't experienced any of that, I haven't needed to use any wax at all. Yeah, my tongue got a little sore due to the insides of my upper molar bands, but no rubbing anywhere else at all.
You might be totally different though, your teeth might not ache like mine. I know there are alot of people who haven't experienced any discomfort at all. But I remember when I would eat something that required chewing before swallowing (so not even major chewy food) my teeth felt like they had been kicked. But all this has eased off now! YAY ... so it hasn't lasted forever, just the first few days. I am already getting used to them and have actually had quite a few moments where I forgot I have braces, I'm chuffed
I am a firm believer I will still be able to eat 'normal' foods throughout my braces. I was only told by my Ortho not to eat sweets, toffee, crusty bread etc but can eat apples and chewy meat as long as I cut it into small pieces first then directly chew it on my back teeth, rather than biting into these things with my front teeth, to avoid brackets possibly popping off.
Good luck for tomorrow! It's come round quick

Steak is not a forbidden food. It's just hard to chew when your braces are new. Definitely NOT on the forbidden food list.
You may not have any pain for a few hours. If you do, stick with something soft like pasta.

I ate anything and everything when I had braces. It takes a little longer but you can do it. A waterpik will get just about anything off.

I'm planning on tacos tonight but without the taco part! I still can't bite into anything, even a banana feels odd, but I've learned to compromise. If you really want it, you'll find a way!

Whatever happens eat toffees at some stage :L Even if it means buying Quality Street and knicking all the toffee pennys. It'll be worth it! Because it's forbidden food!

Eat a big sandwich, lol.. the deli kind with piled up meat and cheese and dressing. Not subway, think bigger and better. Eat chips on the side. And a salad too.
I know it doesn't sound indulgent but I remember when I first got my braces on, I thought I'd never be able to bite into a sandwich or a burger ever again. But don't worry, eventually you will be able to.

LOL I remember the bananas.. I couldn't believe I couldn't eat it for a long time. Even though after a few weeks the pain goes away and you probaby can eat it, just the texture or something about it, probably coupled w/my weird bite that resulted from the braces, you just cannot eat it.

Ooh yeah! I can eat sandwiches OK now with minimal pain, but nothing gets stuck in your braces quite like bread does. so indulge while you can!
Funny, it's Thanksgiving here (in the US) and I was thinking "why in the world would someone get braces on the day before Thanksgiving?"
Insular me.

I'd eat all the almonds and nuts I can! =)
Now that I'm 6 months along, I can eat almost anything I want, but nuts are a real pain to clean coz they get stuck every where!

Thank you for the suggestions!
We ended up going to Nando's. I had nuts and a grilled chicken sandwich then I indulged in chewy sweets and cola cubes
Got my brace on now and shortly afterwards I ate breaded fried bree with cranberry mayo and just cut off the harder bits. Chewing wasn't so bad but I ended up swallowing a lot of the salad leaves whole!
I thought I might benefit and lose a lb or two but I don't think it'll be the case

Wow, you are doing really well! I definitely could not eat anything solid for a few weeks.. I was eating soup and ice cream for quite awhile. Count yourself lucky!
