Hi - since I got my braces (5 months ago) I haven't been able to whistle - just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

It comes and goes - 90% of the time, it's gone :)
I thing those few "whistles" I am able to make are lucky tries - having a dog, I do try a lot :D

oh yes!
my lips cant meet properly into "whistle" position due to the extra space created by arch+brackets..

my ortho called it "lip incompetence" :)

at first my lips opened as soon as i fell aseleep,
and i would immediatly wake up ...
and then fall asleep again, lips opened, etc

much better over time :)

I can't whistle either! I tried it the other day out of the blue and nothing came out, was kind of disappointed. Not really sure why lol.

Hahah yes! I guess if you're a dog owner you notice stuff like that. I used to have a nice loud whistle and now nothing!

Glad I'm not the only one - since I noticed I have been frustrated by it!

Still can whistle but it's definitely a lot more 'airy' than before and a lot quieter! Dog just pretends not to hear me now! :D

Glad I'm not the only one. I can whistle most of the time now but for the first year or so I couldn't. I've had braces for almost 2 years. I whistle better when I have my elastics in. I have Class 3 on the left side and Class 2 on the right.

YES and realized it in a very embarrassing way! I was trying to call my dog to come at the dog park. I went to whistle and the only noise that came out was me pushing air through my lips. Everyone saw... it was awful. On top of that, when I called my dog to come by name, he was too busy playing and ignored me.

The title of this made me laugh, as i have been going crazy trying to whistle and i just can't!! Although it has only been 15 days since i had my braces put on so maybe in time!
