Does anyone hate adjustments as much as I do?

I have come to realise that I despise going for adjustments. LOL....It is just too painful. The actually process sometimes isn't painful but just very uncomfortable. Yesterday I went to get adjusted and the assistant was not the easiest of hands. She was quite rough so to take out the ligs was drama, some teeth are still sore since my last adjustment and she had to press each tooth with this metal thingy I guess to make sure they are all intact and stuck properly. This was sending me up a wall...then to take out the bands the metal instrument kept scraping my teeth which had me crinching.
The ortho came to do whatever he does with the brackets themselves and told her what to do to complete the adjustment. To place new ligs was another story, same pain. Now one side of my mouth is soooo jacked up I can't eat a thing. Usually it takes a few hours to set in, this time the pain set in immediately. Gosh I hate adjustments, I sweat like crazy when they are doing whatever they do with the instruments because metal dragged on my teeth drives me CRAZY!!!!!
Thank goodness the next appointment is end of January....yes!

I dont like them either. I had my fist one last night and i didn't like it.
Theres a lot of pressure applied on each tooth and if its sore anyway it makes it soooo much worse - at least it's over quickly.
I hate it

Cant say I enjoy it either - pressure, uncomfort etc but as haywire said I focus on the fact that its another appointment behind me and a step nearer! Still got ages to go though..........

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I love mine! They don't hurt a bit and they mean one step closer to straighter teeth, so there is nothing to hate!

I remember one time having pain during an adjustment, but my mouth was hurting before the adjustment. I usually have my adjustments every 6-7 weeks.
Sure there's some pain afterwards but I've had mine for 2 years and there is hardly any pain, just a little discomfort. I'm in Class II elastics on my right side and Class III elastics on my left side and on the left side there is a little discomfort - I can tell my bottom tooth is moving.
I LOVE to go to my adjustments. I count down the days until I'm due. I'm hoping to hear soon when I get mine off. January 21, 2011 will be my 2 yr. anniversary.

My adjustments aren't painful or anything so I don't mind them.
My ortho has accidentally hit my teeth a few times with the tool he uses to put the ligs on with lol. I don't blame him though, sometimes my ligs are so stubborn and won't go on!
I get a little nervous of the pliers though! I get scared my ortho is going to accidentally cut my tongue or cheek with them.

Oh god, I think some people just have this timer in their brain when it comes to metal against their teeth. For me, I can't stand the sound of any metal clinging together.. change excessively being moved around on a table or counted drives me nuts, and the sound of clinging forks and spoons is the WORST. So the adjustments aren't that bad, however when they put the ligatures on it's like someones taking a hole puncher to my teeth. It's really frustrating and not to mention irritating more than painful.

Words cannot describe how much I f-ing loath each and every adjustment. Read my story, I've mentioned many a times what has happened during. But....I'll take every second of them and 10 fold, if it means I'm going to have a better smile.
Oh, and I'm sure they hate me a coming...as much as I hate a going.

I love adjustments! I get super excited as each adjustments brings me closer to the debracing day!!
From your post, your orthodontist seems to be really rough on you. My adjustments are quite quick and I don't really feel any discomfort.

I have only had one adjustment so far but it was much more painful than actually having the braces placed. My second adjustment is tomorrow, and my mouth is quite sore as I had a baby tooth come out on its own and that whole side of my mouth has been throbbing on and off since then, so I know it's just going to be awful. For my first adjustment, I even took pain meds beforehand, but it didn't do a thing.

I agree that I look forward to adjustments because I know I am that much closer to being done. The last one I had done is the first time my teeth *really* hurt afterwards. They were sore for almost a week! I had a power chain put on the bottom and I couldn't bite into anything crisp for days! No tortilla chips, etc. It was similar to the first week after my braces when all I could eat was soft foods.
I usually take some Advil before the appointment and get a smoothie right after. I don't know that the smoothie makes a difference, but I consider it my reward for surviving another month.

I just had my first adjustment a few hours ago! I took an Advil before leaving so I don't know if it's the Advil that helped or whether it really wasn't that painful but it went very smoothly and I feel pretty good right now. The hygienist who put my new wires in was very gentle and the ortho reminded her (I think she's new) that my teeth will be sensitive (looking at me and waiting for a nod which I gave him enthusiastically) and to hold the top of each tooth as she closes each bracket to cut down on the discomfort. She even spent some extra time being very sure the ends of my wire were cut down to the quick so they won't poke my cheeks. So my first adjustment experience was an A+.

I'm in the love adjustments camp. I can't wait for the next one to come, and everytime my ortho asks "Is it ok if I upgrade your wire?", I'm like "Yes! Bring it on!". The pain/soreness of the adjustments gets less and less with each appointment, so I'm a happy camper.

I don't like them and especially after today I hate them even more. I feel like I never know what they are going to do and I am always on pins and needles because of anticipating pain. Will be forever grateful when I get them off my teeth for good. Will gladly wear any and all retainers because this is a process I never want to endure again.
