Pregnant with braces

#1 Post by DevG »

Just curious to know if there are any other expectant mamas on here.

I have had my braces for about 18 months. I am supposed to have them for 2 years so I don't have too long to go but I am 7 months pregnant now and it's definitly been a challenge for me do deal with that and braces! Anyone else?

I am not pregnant right now, but I had my son almost 6 months ago. It was definitely a challenge! I was hungry ALL the time, I couldn't rinse with flouride and then I had to wear elastics. Which I ended up not really wearing during my pregnancy  But, from what I've read, your teeth move easier when your pregnant! Woohoo! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Me! I'm pregnant as well :0) I got my braces on in March 2010 with an expected treatment time of 12 - 18 months. I'm really hoping to get them off before the baby arrives as I know I will not have the energy (or time) for all the cleaning and upkeep. I've already started slacking.

No but just wanted to wish you luck! By the time the baby arrives you'll definitely be a pro with the braces and as used to them as general brushing. I have a toddler and a pre-schooler and there's a lot of juggling going on but I try to make sure I brush when they do (plus any extras I need) and if I can't do it right after food I make sure I have a good rinse with warmish water.

Brush in the shower if you can, I remember the early days well but things will fqll into place, I promise!

Thanks Everyone!

My ortho said I MIGHT be able to get them off before the baby is born which would be 3 months earlier than I was supposed to get the off. I am not really in a rush anymore, at first it was a challenge with morning sickness lol but it's better now. My ortho just thinks I won't be able to make time for my appointments when I have the baby so he wants to take them off lol.
