Bite plate...anyone else have to have one with their braces?

If so, how long did it affect your speech? I get mince on in 2 weeks and I am super concerned about talking like a fool :(
I might be getting one.. (debating about the cement buildups vs. the bite plate) - good luck with it!! Hopefully it won't affect speech for that long, I assume it'll be the same as wearing a retainer.
Don't stress too much, as with all things with braces - it may take a couple of days to adjust.
