Hey everyone! This is my very first time actually starting a thread. I got Damon braces installed about 3 weeks ago. I have the clear ones on top, and I will be going in for metal ones on the bottom at some point down the road. My experience has been more than amazing thus far! No pain, and I have been eating from day one. I even had pizza after leaving from getting them installed! I have an open bite up top and spacing, which was caused by a finger sucking habit that pushed my top four front teeth out. I don't have to get surgery or anything, and my issues will be fixed with braces alone. Other than that, my teeth are in good condition. The bottom row is basically perfect. I'm hoping my treatment goes fast! My teeth have already moved a lot. My openbite started closing on day 1. At first I thought I was delusional, but my husband agreed with me. So far everything is going amazing, which makes me wonder.
A.) Does it get worse the further into treatment you go?? I mean, I thought it was going to be rough, but it has been a pleasant experience thus far. Is the worst yet to come?? Should I "brace myself " for a tougher road in the future??
B.) How long does it normally take for an open bit to completely close? I know everyone is different, but if you have an open bite, please share your experience with it closing.
C.) How long should it take for my gaps to start closing? Right now I'm mainly seeing a change in my open bite, but my gaps have barely closed.
D.) Also, I have a blog but it won't let me post the darn link or even add a siggy. When will that change??
Those are all of the questions I have for now...
Thanks :)

Re: Question about Open Bite, Gaps, and etc...Come on In!!!!
Hello!
I can really only offer insight on question B. I have an open bite and have been in treatment for 7 months now. I have TADs and a bite splint, however, so I'm not sure how different it would be using braces alone. I guess it depends on how bad it is. Mine has closed approximately 1 mm per month.
I have comparison pictures in my story if you wanted to take a look. I love seeing the difference!
My orthodontist estimates that the bite splint can come out in 1-2 months, so that would be 8-9 months total to close the open bite. The bite splint actually makes my open bite worse, so I am eager for it to come out! My bite should close for the first time...ever!
Good luck!

Re: Question about Open Bite, Gaps, and etc...Come on In!!!!
Hey there, I have an open bite and this is my story
Basically I have had an open bite all my life, I had braces about 9 years ago and they couldn't correct the open bite, its my jaw so they pretty much got my front teeth to just touch, with no overbite whatsoever. about 9 years later I have a fully open bite, worse than before and I am having jaw surgery to correct it. Your case is probably very different. I can tell you this much, I had traditional braces and I had 4 extractions. My braces were off in a year, teeth straight, no spaces, and top and bottom just touching. Braces can work so fast, just be sure the problem is corrected before they remove the braces. Best of luck!!
