Is it normal for bite to be off?

Is it normal for bite to be off?
Ok, I just got braces put on yesterday, so I may be jumping the gun. The pain isn't bad, but I am surprised by how "off" my bite with my molars feels. I can't chew food back there because things are not meeting up. It seems the brackets on my eyeteeth are striking and stopping my molars from touching. IS this normal? Will it get better? Should I call the orthodontist? Thanks for your thoughts.

This is, unfortunately, completely normal. Your bite will be constantly changing throughout treatment. If your treatment goes anything like mine, getting your bite proper and comfortable will be the very last thing done.

Normal. Just when I think my bite is leveling out and more teeth are meeting up, I have an appointment and things change back to wonky. It is just part of the process. It bothered me more in the beginning. It is crazy the way you can wake up in the morning with a completely different bite!

This is my experience as well. I currently do not have a full bite with the back molars. Once you get use to the new bite you have an adjustment and the bite is foreign again. I called the ortho early in my treatment and they told me this is normal, so you can call yours but I bet you'll hear the same. Your bite will feel okay within a few days, hang in there. Good luck.

Totally normal. I've had them for a year and just last week, I was biting byself 4 times a day on the same spot - but just for a few days, and then puf, it changed again and the biting stoped. This is just the first step in a long road ahead of you; but it's worth it!!
