Hi,
I wore a quad helix expander for about three months. Initially speech was quite tricky, and my tongue became quite sore. However, it did seem to do the job. I had it taken out just before Christmas, but I may need it for a few more weeks or months to finish addressing my crossbite. Good luck with yours, and I hope it is not too troublesome.

Hi
I had a quad helix expander for the first 4 months of treatment. It took a little while getting used to, but soon you won't even notice it. It widened my arch and there is such a difference.
Good luck!

I am 25 and have had my quad helix in for about 2 months now. I wont lie, I personally think it's a real PITA. Eating with it is annoying, it makes my tongue stupidly sore and if also messes with my speech, but saying all that, I've kinda got used to it and know it wont be forever.
My Ortho said at my adjustment before my previous one that it could possibly come out at my next appointment, well that 'next appointment' was last week and I still have my quad helix, so I am unsure when it will actually come out.
I haven't noticed a great deal of difference in my arch width since having my quad helix (although I haven't taken comparison pics for about a month) because the braces did the majority of that for me (pulling/tipping teeth outwards). But I have noticed some tipping in my molars though, which is what a quad helix is normally for (buccal tipping), which can correct bite problems etc. I don't think it's used for true 'expansion' (palate expansion).
Some of my lowers are also tipped inwards, but my Ortho is using elastics to correct that issue.

Hi,
I just got mine installed yesterday... And I feel like pulling it out of my mouth myself!!! I hate it. I'm 30 in few days and I have to learn how to eat. I'm so tired of it, and also disappointed with my ortho - she claimed it's won't be a problem to get used to, and it's not true. She also claimed, it won't be a problem to keep it clean - another lie :(
Question to everyone who had it installed - should there be space between my helix and palate? From what I understood my ortho - she claimed it will be all the way very close to my palate, and I guess this way it would be easy to adjust. But in my case, I can fit nearly half a hamburger between it and my palate ;) Half of the food get in between, and I really can't imagine how I can adjust to this... Can anyone tell me, how was your helix fitted?

Hi,
Did the people who commented/posted under this forum have a positive experience from their quad hélix in the end? I'm 35 and have had my quad hélix expander (non-key turning one) in my mouth for a month now to widen my upper arch and to fix a crossbite. So far (27 days) I haven't noticed any/much difference. How did you guys get on? I don't know anyone who has gone through this so I would really appreciate you input.
Thanks in advance.
