So I have been in elastics (I wear them @ 12 hours a day) for a month starting to work on closing my open bite. I've had two extractions to try and pull my bottom teeth back as well. Well, already my bottom teeth have moved waaaay back but I still have tons of pretty big gaps between some of my teeth from the extractions. I'm concerned by the time these gaps close, my teeth will be so far back that I will have an overbite! I'm also worried that if my bottom teeth move back much farther- my face is going to look really sunken in.
I plan on bringing this up with my ortho at my next adjustment- but in the meantime- is this normal?

Re: Open bite turning into overbite!
I wore elastics for about 8 or 9 weeks; my ortho did tell me I might develop an overbite and that it was normal.
I had class 3, two elastics on each side, wore all day except for eating.
I did get an overbite but since I am no longer on elastics, it went away.

Re: Open bite turning into overbite!
Thanks for the reply, I did ask my ortho and she said the bottom teeth will move back up a little after the elastics are off. I'm wearing in a different position now and I do notice the overbite is not as pronounced.
