You can really tell how crooked your teeth are.....

when the brackets are placed like a roller coaster on your teeth.

I had my brackets put on yesterday with no wire. :( I get the wires put on on the 25th, after I get my 4 first bicuspids removed in a week. Not looking forward to having oral surgery but I want those wires put on because I know I will have no progress till they go on.

I kind of feel like I don't want anyone to see my teeth right now because my teeth look real wonky right now.

Don't worry, give it a month or two and they will start straightening! The change is amazing!

I nearly cried when I saw the "rollercoaster" of brackets on my teeth. For some reason I was expecting them all to be put on in a straight line! HA! The good news is that it doesn't take too terribly long before that wire straightens out.

The only bad thing for me is, I have to wait till the 25th of May to get my wires. I am just sporting brackets right now.

It will be here before I know it but for now its kind of embarrassing.

I see that you are having surgery, so I understand no wire. But, why did they go ahead and put the brackets on? I wouldn't want the brackets on without a wire since it's not doing anything but irritating your mouth. Good luck with your surgery.

Your orthodontist probably wants you to get used to the feeling of the brackets in your mouth since you might be super uncomfortable with your extractions and you will be eating soft foods anyways. Congrats on getting bracketed! You're almost there!

That's exactly why. She wants there to be not much delay after my surgery. She only wants me to go a week after the extractions to get the wires so, the process of filling the gaps starts immediately.

The brackets are annoying and sharp. I look a little odd with no wire but at least I am done with the process of cementing the brackets and most of my bands on.

Make a picture of your teeth now, and when you'll look at it a few months later, you'll feel such happiness that it's no longer that staring at you in the mirror!
It' really worth it!

That is exactly what I have been doing. I took before pictures and when they put the brackets on, last week.

I have my 4 extractions scheduled for Friday. It's weird because I am nervous about using general anesthesia again (had it a year ago when I had my wisdom teeth extracted) but, I am anxious to get everything going. I know the teeth have to be gone and I need to get my wires put on and one can't happen without the other. It's just odd to me to have 4 perfectly health teeth removed.

My bracing went just like your. I had full metal top and bottom bonded but no wire for a week (4 extractions in between), I had to go back into work immediately afterward...ugh! I had several people saying "you got braces?" "let me see". I think this had to be the most uncomfortable time of my life. I had a full metal mouth without the benefit of any progress. Good news is that you will get through it even though you feel awkward right now. Good Luck

It's extremely odd to not have the wires already. I know I need my 4 premolars to go away before any progress can be done so, I get why the ortho put the brackets on first.

The only nice thing about not having the wires are I can still floss normally. A week from tomorrow, that will all be done with for 24-30 months.

I guess I can add a ticker to my signature on the 25th when the wires go in because as of now, all I am doing is getting used to having a full mouth of sharp objects.
