if I see another bowl of soup I'm gonna snap

#1 Post by pjacjac »

so after just 12 weeks of this lovely experience we call braces, my ortho has braced my very back molars. I wasn't expecting them so soon and I had finally started eating normal for me, (my jaw is a bit of a disaster) and now I'm back to mushy food and soup. I would give anything for a giant hamburger right about now.

Sorry needed to vent, anyone found the trick to getting floss way back there now with the wire all the way to the back, feel like I'm digging for gold trying to find the threader and it keeps tearing and getting stuck on the new brackets.

Secondly one is banded around a gold crown, anyone have this done and did the crown survive when it was all done, that's an expense I'm really not wanting to add to all this when the bracket comes off

Crest glide threader floss. The kind that comes in individual packets. It has one end that's stiff so you don't need a threader and I haven't ever had a problem with it shredding on the brackets. I buy mine at target or walmart. There's 30 per box and costs about 5 bucks but I think its totally worth it since its durable, easy to use and portable. Don't know about the crowns but you can definitely mix up the soft foods with mac and cheese, rice, fish, smoothies, etc. Hope you're feeling better soon. Good luck!

I hear ya. I thought I was out of the woods, but when I had my pre-molars extracted last week I developed dry sockets. So they put this nasty gunk in. So everything I eat (besides nutrition drinks and soup) taste just like the nasty medicine. Ugh! I want to eat like a normal human being again!! I miss being able to bite into a hamburger without my teeth becoming SUPER sensitive! :( :(

I feel the same way. Stupid molar buildups. Make it pretty tuff to eat. Although, I am starting to venture out more and more... it's still not easy.

Need to find food that I can regain the weight I loss from just eating soup (probably didn't eat enough soup)....

I use Oral B superfloss and I cut the harder threader part in half so the end isn't going every which way...and if I can't get it through the wires in the back, or get my fingers to grab the end, my last resort is grabbing the end with tweezers. I'm getting a lot better at it now...
