I'm just over a week in braces, starting with braces on the bottom and I have no idea what kind they are. Everyone seems to know whether they are Damon, etc... but I don't. Do I need to ask my ortho at my next appointment, or is it possible to identify by the brackets? I have no idea if they are self-ligating or not.
Will take a picture once I can get one of the brackets in focus!

Re: No idea what type of metal brackets I have
Do they have the little tiny rubber bands holding the wire to the bracket on every single tooth? If not, then you most likely have SL Brackets. If this is the case, run a google image search for "damon braces bracket" and then "in-ovation braces bracket" and chances are it's one of those two. If you DO have the little rubber bands on every bracket, then those are "traditional" braces, and they all look very similar.
Re: No idea what type of metal brackets I have
Hi Robot Teeth, thanks for the suggestion. I don't think they have rubber bands... because they look it's silver or grey and the orthodontist didn't ask if I wanted a different colour. It looks like it twisted in a figure of eight on each bracket but it's pretty small. I'll search for the Damon brackets and innovation like you mentioned and see if they match. Or maybe I'll just figure out how to take a picture in focus of them and post it on the forum!!Robot Teeth wrote:Do they have the little tiny rubber bands holding the wire to the bracket on every single tooth

Elastics twisted into a figure of eight are ligatures around the brackets, therefore you have traditional metal braces. They cross over elastics to put more force on the tooth if it needs to be moved. When less pressure is required the ligature goes around the bracket.
