Gap on one side closing - the other side isn't. What's next?

I had fairly large gaps in front of my upper canines on both sides. I've been in elastics for a few months now. There are hooks clamped to my upper archwire just outside my incisors, and they have elastics that go back to my upper first molars. I don't change these elastics, and from the difficulty they have in putting them on, I don't think I could anyway (they're pretty tight.)

I also have elastics going from my upper canines to my lower 2nd molars. I wear these 24/7 and change them myself.

On one side, the gap has nearly closed, which is awesome. On the other side, the gap has hardly budged, which isn't so awesome. At my last appointment, my ortho was talking about trying something different if the gap didn't start closing. I'm nearing that appointment now, and the gap still hasn't changed.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced this, and what they ended up having to do to get the stubborn gap to close.

Hey

yep the gap on my right bottom is closing but the gap on my left bottom has not moved at all. to get this issue soreted and moving along to im gettin "temporary anchorage devices" or google tad's.

maybe hes going to use those. dont be put off when you see them. ive spoken to many people and they all said it was painless. as where they put them there are no nerves in the area aparantly and the gum is numbed. im not a dentist but ive looked round on the net and i spoke to people, maybe thats what your dentist wil use.

im getting 2 put in soon and i feel good about it my ortho is a specialist and very highly decorated. otherwise there is no way i would be doing it. let me know how you go when you speak to your ortho good luck.
