Did you get xrays again & reposition your brackets?

Hi everyone - so at my next appt. they said they want to take xrays again to see how my teeth are doing and they may need to reposition my brackets.

Has anyone else had this done during their treatment? And did you have to pay for the xrays again?

I didn't know they would have to retake xrays and I assume I will have to pay for it. :| It's already expensive getting braces.

Thanks for your input!

Hi

Im not sure if its a regular thing to have done or not, sounds feesable though because they can see were your roots are positioned and make any changes to ensure the bite stays put after removal of braces as much as possible.

I have a fixed fee for my braces so regardless of how long or what happens along the way i wont have to pay anymore than originally quoted.

Yes, it's quite normal to check the positioning of the roots with an x-ray and adjust bracket positioning if needed. I had the same thing during my treatment.

I paid an all inclusive price so I had no more to pay for x-rays etc.

Yup, I had it done too. No extra charge, it's all included. Actually, I had xrays then the ortho decided to wait another 6 weeks. So later I had another set done and had 2 brackets moved.

I had x-rays taken again at around the year mark. I did have to pay for them - $179.00.
I am sure I will paying for those again real soon.

I didn't have any brackets repositioned.

Whether the x-rays are included in your treatment will depend on your office, and your financial agreement.

It is not always necessary to take an x-ray mid-treatment, but it is often useful to make sure that the roots are parallel, to verify a lack of root resorption, and to observe any other teeth that may be erupting.

Hi everyone - THANK you all so much for responding! :) That really helped a lot!
Actually - the ortho mentioned taking a look at my roots and I had never heard of this before - that you can also straighten the root. So I'm glad to see your replies about the position of the roots - I was going to ask about this on the forum too.
As for paying - I don't know if it's included. I guess I will find out next time I go to the appt. But I'm glad to read it's common to have xrays.
I hope I don't have to reposition any brackets though! I really can't handle that tongue/cheek guard thing. :(
Thanks for your time and support!
