More Thoughts on the Do's and Dont's for Unbraced people

Don't- ask me for the 100th time why am I going to the bathroom after a meal, when you already know i'm going to brush my teeth. ( come on, are you that stupid that I have to tell you 101 times? I went to the dentist maybe you should get your hearing tested)

Don't- assume that all my meals need to be searved in a bowl with a straw. ( I still have teeth you know what the hell do you think the braces are attached to)

Don't- roll your eyes at me and tell me that I dont need them but you did, because your teeth were worse than mine. (everyones needs are different in treatment)

Don't - say they are only teeth get dentures later and to save my money ( I want to be the only one in the nursing home at 90 chomping on steak thanks, not slopping down savory mince).

Don't- that say I'm selfish for spending joint income on my teeth and what did my husband get in return, ( well in our marriage is not tit for tat and my husband supports me 100% , he wants me to have healthy teeth and gums, and why is wanting my teeth to actually face the right direction a crime, and the crowding, and gaps and an uneaven midline with a deep bite and 2 temporary anchorage screws in my jaw - YES ITS BEEN NOTHING BUT ONE BIG PARTY) - this comment was actually made by a relative.

and on a final note im not your 1800 braces hotline for all the kids and parents at the school to call up. im not a dr im just a patient, and like me FIND YOUR OWN ORTHODONTIST and go ask your gorey 300 questions THATS WHY YOU PAY THEM FOR THE ADVICE.

Do- treat me like a normal person because i am and there are lots of things to talk about other than my braces- i can tell the difference between genuine concern and down right rude and sarcastic comments.

Sorry if im ranting but its been a hard week -not with braces but with people being - so rude.

On a side note, I swear I am going to bite the next person that asks me why I got braces, that there was nothing wrong with my teeth. Really?! Didn't notice my big snaggle tooth, REALLY?!

Hi - sorry to hear about your rough week! I don't know why people have to be soo rude!!

I saw a bumper sticker that said "mean people suck!" Totally agree!

Well just think of your beautiful smile when those braces come off! It'll be worth it!

(A lot of times, I think people are just jealous too.)

Thanks for both your kind thoughs and i agree with biting the next person who asks!!!

why did you get braces ? a really stupid question if you ask me " oh my gosh i dont know? a dental team kidnapped me during the night, i somehow paid them $5 grand and the darndest thing i woke up thismorning and there they were just stuck to my teeth".

Maybe we have found a new market for t-shirts ill start a thread for comments.

lets see how many we can get. would be funny to see what people come up with.
