Issue with my canine teeth not being in the right position

#1 Post by misswonky »

Hi, wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Had bracces fitted about 2 mths ago.

My teeth are straightening out pretty quickly (to begin with overlapped/overcrowded) but they are not aligned straight at the bottom yet.
The canine teeth have come down too far and look pointy. Do you think the ortho will bring them up so that theyre level with the front teeth? The treatment has been mainly for cosmetic reasons and i am not happy with the way this is looking so far. I am a private patient so could i insist he does this, after all it is my teeth & i should be able to choose how they look.

The canine teeth, when in their proper position, are supposed to be a bit longer than the front incisors. (Lateral incisors are shorter then canines and front incisors). Of course, if you don't like this look, then by all means ask your ortho if there are other options.

The upper central incisors should be the same length as the canines, with the upper lateral incisors being 0.5mm shorter than the adjacent teeth.

Definitely speak to your orthodontist to express what you wish to have done with your teeth, and consider the advice he/she has for you in making your decision. Good luck!
