This is happening to me in a few places only really at the very back, i'm just past two months in from having them on, seems all my issues are coming at once this happened to anyone else? only real hassle with them is when i floss, the overgrown gums tend to bleed alot. My hygenist has seen them and says its not an issue to concern about at the moment, just try to keep them as clean as possible. If this has happened to anyone else, did you have any huge issues? it only happened because proper cleaning techniques where never clearly explained to me until i saw my hygenist two days ago, only then did she tell me how to clean proporly.

Overgrown gums are caused by two reasons: improper hygiene or, if hygiene is not an issue, then it's simply your body's reaction to the metal of the braces. Note: this is not an allergy to the metal. I had overgrown gums as well all throughout my treatment. My hygienist said this is quite common (even with impeccable hygiene); the gums swell because they perceive the metal as a foreign invader. Do the best you can at keeping things clean, the gum tissue will return to normal once your braces are removed.
