What changes the angulation of teeth?? Elastics/Wires??

My upper teeth are like \ instead of being like this | (looking at it from a side profile). My lower are also like this / instead of |. i've been braced for 5 months now. I also have 4 first premolar gaps that my ortho said he will start closing from my next appointment (oct 5th). He mentioned i will start wearing elastics from my next appointment. From my last appointment i was changed to steel wires, the funny thing is that this wire has hurt the least. I thought it was way stronger than the rest and this is supposed to be one of the final ones??. He said from here forward we will start moving teeth by making bends in wires.

My question is, what changes the angulation of the teeth? Is it the elastics or the wire?? I'm eager to start seeing some major changes, as i haven't seen any major changes. My problem is bimaxilliary protrusion, and the change in profile, and my teeth/jaw moving back is what is going to give me the most change, also the angulation of my teeth.

The short answer to your question is - both of them can change position and/or angulation of teeth. In addition, elastic can change the position of the lower jaw in relation to the upper - to some extent. That is why elastics and wires are working together to achieve the desired result.
From what you have said, your protruding front teeth will be pushed into the extraction gaps very soon. Be patient, it will happen.
As of the steel wire, yes it is supposed to hurt because it is stiff, but your teeth are probably already very prepared to move and less pain is produced. Remember - pain is subjective

ok so the answer to your question is the wires will change the angle of your teeth.. I myself have bottom teeth angled in like so \. I asked my ortho how he was gonna fix this issue for me. he said he will put in a particular wire that doesnt have a round or square shape but more of a triangle. and the way i fits into the brackets it will torque them the direction the ortho needs them.. I know thats alot to try and understand. but just know that the wire is gonna torque (not the best word, but thats what it is) your teeth in a straight position. I find it very facinating how the ortho uses wires, elastics, applliances to make beautiful straight teeth lol. so i tend to ask many questions to appease my curiosity. i incourage you to ask the ortho lots of questions. they shouldnt mind in the least and also tell the ortho to explain it so you can understand. (so its not in his dr lingo) =) good luck in your journey!
